Governor Blease commuted to life imprisonment on Friday the sentence of death imDosed bv Judere Prince on I John Pendergrass of Williamsburg county, convicted before Judge Prince in November last :>f the murder of Hezekiah Harrison, about two miles from Kingstree. The sentence in Pendergrass' case was saspended by an appeal, which has now been abandoned. Judge Prince recommended the commutation. Solicitor P. H. Stollaeciined to make any recommendation. There was testimony to show that Pendergrass was followed at night by Harrison, with whom he had been on bad terms, and that Harrison and two friends were closing in upon Pendergrass when the latter fired the shot that proved fatal to Harrison.
