Billy Felix's Letter,
'To the Editor of The Dispatch:
Happy New Year greetings to yon,
the Dispatch force and all her readers!
The old year has come, gone
and and is now numbered with the
past, with her successes and failures.
The new is upon us with her hopes i
and promises, and may this be the j
gladdest and happiest year of our life.

the advertising rush, maybe you can
iind space for a few items from my
pen. '
Fairly good crops have been haryested,
prices for cotton have been
up, the farmers have pain up and seem
contented, and are beginning prepararations
for the coming crop.
The insatiating teeth of time have
a tendency to change things in the
material world and with it other

* have been wars and rumors of wars,
strifes and strikes, famines and pestilences,
earthquakes and ' disasters,
failures and victories, and while all
these things have taken place in the
material world the matrimonial kingdom
has not been dormant. Sly Cupid
has plied his cunning device and
several have fallen victims to his lived

G. S. Goodwin ha9 purchased a ^fine
touring car and many of the young
folks enjoy pleasure rides on it.
Since our last our friend and brothf
er, Geo. W. Sightler, ha9 been called
to answer the roll call over the river.
He was a devoted husband, a kind '
y father, a troe citizen and faithful
k christian. His remains were interred
in Sandy Ran cemetery, the funeral
services being conducted by C. A.

|n*town and run a general mercantile
' business in connection with the post office.

Mrs. lizzie Jefcoafc, nee Williamson,
of Arkansas, a classmate of ours
during our boyhood days, is here
spending the holidays with relatives
^ and friends. We are glad tD see her
looking well and enjoying life.
A Farmers' Union has been organ:
ized here with a large membership. ~
r- Since the recent severe illness of our
little Winnie Janet, the health of the
happy Felix family is excellent.
Should this escape the famous waste
basket, Mr. Editor, you may again

y Frank Hartley Promoted.
. Mr. Frank B. Hartley, son of Mr.
A. L. Hartley, of Lexington, has been
promoted to the important position of
assistant station master of the Savannah
Union Station Company at Savannah,
Ga. Mr. Hartley has been
the assistant ticket agent at the Union
depot at Savannah for about a year,
> and the promotion comes in Ijnst recognition
of his services.
VMr. Hartley is a very young man.
Being only about 20 years of age. His
friends here will learn of his promotion
with interest and pleasure.
