The State Fair this year premises to excel any cf its 42 predecessors. The Fair opens on the 31-t of October and continues ali week. President Moblev ha9 met with great success in securing particularly fine exhibits. Commissioner Watson has arranged an exceptionally interesting exhibit. , The corps of Clemson Cadets will be in Columbia for the Fair six hundred strong. Aii classes ot exnions promise lietter and higher grade displays. The grounds will be cpen at nights. Secretary Erfid has a spiendid lot of midm&Y attractions for the grounds. There will be great football games. On Wldnesday Davidson and Charles- j ton College meet the gridiron. Secretary James Wilson has been invited j to address the farmers of the State on Priday and will likely be here. The horse races promise to be fine i and many entries have already been Biade. On Saturday there will be ?special automobile races. The tragedy occurred in the lot almost within the shadow of his throe j daughters who were picking peanuts j j under a shed. j His remains were laid to rest in the i family burying ground on Friday, the ! funeral services being conducted by j the Rev. J. A. Cromer. Harman, the popular horse mau, met with quite a painful accident on Friday night while returning from the Bateaburg fair. 1 When he reached the Lexington fair grounds his horses became frightened at little negroes and ran away, throwing Mr. Harman out of the buggy and breaking his arm just above the wrist. Ho received a few other minor ' bruises about the face in the smashup. i His many frit-lids will be giad to i learn that he is getting along fairly [ well.
