The wedding of Miss Lucille Eflrd and Mr. Robert F. Bo we, solemnized in St. Stephen's Lutheran churoh on last Wednesday evening at 8:30 o'clock, was one of the most brilliant society events in the life of Lexington. The charch presented a beautiful scene. The decorations were most exquisite. Masses of ferns and palms formed an embankment, in the mid9t of which the bridal party stood. Preceding the ceremony a musical programme was rendered, Miss Edna Brockington of Manning presiding at the organ, and Mrs. M. W. Twifcchell of Columbia rendering several selections on the violin. The ushers were: Hon. A. F. Le yer, W. P. Roof, Jr., B. H. Barre, B. J. Wingard, Julian P. Meetze and C. E. Leaphait. The groomsmen were: J. T. Wardlaw of Darlington, Wm. M. Carter of Columbia, James Holmes of Columbia, and Frank Barnes of Greenville. The bridesmaids: Misses Mattie Brown of Lexington, Rcsalyn Summer of Newberry, and Misses Caro and Ruth Eiird, the two lovely young sisters of the bride. These' four attendants were attired in pink crepe de chine gowns. Miss Essie Efird, another attractive sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She entered alone, wearing a gown of white crepe de chine. Attended by her father, the Hon. C. M. Efird, the bride entered next. She was never prettier than on this occasion. She wore a creation of white crepe de chine, the bodice fashioned of real lace and hand-made tucks, pearl ornaments and hand embroidery. Her veil was of white tulle ATirl shp mnvft rpal Arancrp hlnsanms in her hair. Her shower bouquet was of lillies of the valley and orchids tied with white flower net. She wore an amethyst necklace, studded with diamonds and pearls, the gift of the grocM. At the alfcir she was met by the groom, who entered from the ve914 AND 1706 o JL ul 1la id Friends are ams. T. 8. Brown, assisted by Dr. John Henry Harmes, president of Newberry college, performed the ceremony. Immediately after the ceremony a most brilliant reception was tendered at the home of the bride's parents on South Main street. The lovely home was artistic in eyery decorative detail. The halls, drawingroom, diningroom. presentroom and library were thrown into one. I "Rpnoivinor in Mio rlrawinor rnnm Ttrif-.h the bridal party were: Hon. and Mrs. C. M. Efird, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Bowe, of Angusta, and Mrs. W. C. Wright, of Columbia. The scheme here was white and green. Punch was served by Miss Blossie Kreps of Columbia and Miss Edna Brockington of Manning. Valuable and handsome presents exhibited in the present room attested to the high esteem in which the young couple is held. Mr. and Mrs. Bowe left for Cuba and other points in the South. Upon their return they will reside on Washington street, Greenville, where the groom holds a responsible position with Lewis W. Parker. Mrs. Bowe as Miss Efird was one of Lexington's mo9t popular and cultured young ladies. She is a graduate of the College for Women, and is exceedingly talented in music. The wedding was attended by many j J out-of-town visitors. | Death ol a Little Child. i | Mary Ethel, the bright 2-year-old f daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Haltiwanger, of Pelion, died on Friday af| ternoon, after a four weeks' illness. I The little one was laid to rest in the | Seoffield burying ground on :Saturday | afternoon with funeral services conJ ducted by the Rev. B. D. Wessinger, of Gilbert.
