Swansea.
The editor spent last Friday at
Swansea. Here we found the merchants
busy, many farmers having
brouget their cotton to town during 4
the day. Swansea is a good cotton
market?one of the best in the State,
and hundreds of bales have already
been sold this season. The town con'

brick store building of R. L. Lybrund
& Co., is nearing completion, and will
be one of the most comodious in this
section. There are a number of nice
and convenient brick stores, all doing
a good business. The bank of Swansea
is one of the most prosperous
banks in the State and its business is
rapidly increasing. It has a strong
board of directors and a safe and sane
set of officers.
The crops around Swansea are not
up to former years, both corn and
cotton beiDg short.
Brilliant Wedding.
The wedding of Miss Lucille Efird
and Mr. Robert Frank Bowe, which
will be solemnized in St. Stephen's
Lutheran church this evening at 8:30
o'clock, will be a brilliaDt social event.
The attendants have already arrived
in Lexington, and a number of out-oftown
visitors L-re likewise here.

A Big Land Deal.
Mr. Thos. P. Meetze has sold to the '
Anderson Real Estate Co., of Ander-|
son, S. C., for the Meetze heirs, 40 j
acres of land lying in the eastern part j
of the town of Lexington, the price, j
it is understood, being seyeral thousand
dollars.
The property in question extends
from the Lutheran church to the home
place, and is most desirable for residence
lots.
The Anderson Real Estate Co. will
spend a large sum on improving the
property before it is placed on the
marke' at public auction.
This is considered the largest and
most important land deal ever consumated
in Lexington, and will mean
much to the future growth and development
of the town.

Come To The Fair.
The Lexington County Fair will
open on next Tuesday, the 25th. The
indications are that the fair this year
will be larger and better than ever,
the entries for every department being
unusually full for this stage of the
fair. The secretary, Mr. Saml. B.
George, and his assistants are kept
busy posting up the entries.
The attractions will be of the very
best, two highclass carnival companies
having been engaged for the
entire three days.
Every person in the county should
attend the fair and help make it a
success.

The people of Columbia are making j

The Strret Car Company is making
great improvements in its service and
the people wlli experience no difficulty
in gettiug to and from the
grounds. As usual, Lexington will
be well represented at the Fair and
we hop.e. to see man}' premiums
brought back by our peoffie. Hon. D.
FrankjEfird, the very efficient secretary,
is' using every means in his
power to see that nothing shall be
left undone that will make thi9 the
grandest fair of all fairs. The new
feature of Midway with it's ^umerous
shows and attractions on the fair
grounds which will be kept open until
11 o'clock at night will add greatly
to the pleasures and amusments of the
occasion.
