Frank W. Shelly have returned from
an interesting business trip to Louisville
Ky., Cincinnatti, Ohio, Chicago,
111., Indianapolis, Ind., and Detroit,
Mich., where they went as representatives
of the Lexington Supply Co.
They visited all of the larger automobile
factories, and succeeded in securing
three agencies and are very
much elated over their trip. The
company will handle the "Schacht,"
"Kenmore" and "Sibley," and the
first shipment of the new cars will arrive
within the next few days.
These cars will be demonstrated in
different parts of the State, many inquiries
having already been received
from prospective buyers.
Mr. Shealy. who is a practical man,
believes that in the new cars his company
will have a lead over other automobile
dealers, in that the cars possess
all of the highelass qualities at a
reasonable price
Clemson Institute.
We have been requested to announce
that farmers institutes, under
the auspices of Clemson College, will
be held in Leesville on July 25th, with
an able corps of speakers. It is hoped
that a good crowd will be in attendance.
Farmers should bear in mind
that the greatest good comes to those
who frequently ask questions, and
those in charge of the institute especially
desire that this be done.
Prof. D. N. Barrew will oe in cnarge
of the institute.

Bane's Picnic August 2.
"Yaller-leg" chickens had better
stand shy! The fifteenth annual basket

crowning event of Lexington, but the
occasion this year is looked forward
to with keener interest and greater
pleasure than ever.
Five hundred invitations have been
issued, many of them going to the uttermost
parts of the earth. There
i will be music by a Columbia band,
! and "yaller-leg" chickens and openi
top tarts galore.

Church Struck by Lightning.
During an electric storm last Friday
evening the Swansea Baptist church
was struck by lightning and considerably
damaged. Members of the congregation
gathered on Saturday and
the damage repaired. The clock in
the building was torn to pieces.
Crop Conditions Bad.
i Crops throughout the county are in
bad condition with few exceptions.
Oottou is small and the color is not
good. Corn, while not up to la9t
year, is better on an average than
cotton, and a fair yield is hoped for.
