Bates. i^Hl Golden I H?g^^^H| Seal I ^^BSa^HMHRootl Golden Seal, the root of the above plant, is a very nsefnl medicine. Many people gather it in onr rich woodlands during the summer. Few people know how valuable it is in dyspepsia, catarrh, and as a general tonic. Many thousand pounds of this root are used each year in the famous catarrh remedy, Peruna. This fact explains why everybody uses Peruna for catarrh. W. D. Bates's Bargains. Again W. D. Bates, the merchant in Columbia who sells it for less, announces that bargains are still plentiful and that a cordial invitation i9 extended to all Lexington people to visit his store when in Columbia. Follow this advice. i Quaker Oats is the best of all foods; c it is also the cheapest. When such ( men as Prof. Fisher of Yale University r ana bir James Orichton .Browne, LL.D.-F.R.S. of London spend the t best parts of their lives in studying n the great question of the nourishing q and strengthening qualities of different j foods, it is certain that their advice is absolutely safe to follow. 8( Professor Fisher found in his ex- n periments for testing the strength and J endurance of athletes that the meat eaters were exhausted long before the c< men who were fed on such food as c< Quaker Oats. The powers of endur- p; ance of the non-meat eaters were about eight times those of the meat waters. Sir James Crichton Browne says? eat more oatmeal, eat plenty of it and eat it frequently., 59 Packed in regular size packages, and 8 ^hermetically sealed tins forhot climates. tc * * DSP If HI ' ' Are you in ion's latest de< omy in the ex] store. Th's special committee has postpones the discharge of this special work until later in the j7ear?thinking that a more satisfactory investigation can be made after the annual settlements cf certain of the fiscal officers will bave been made. In our former general presentment bo the court we called the attention >f the County Board of Commissioners to the dilapidated condition of the fencing in front of the county jail; ind recommended that sueh repairs ce made as the said board might think mitable and proper. We regret to aote that nothing seems to have been lone in this regard; and we again direct this matter to the attention of laid board, and nrge that a suitable fence be built around said property. Our at ention has been called to the following alleged violations of law? jiving the witnesses by whom the same can be proved; and we recomnend that the Solicitor investigate; md, if necessary, prosecute the same, ;o wit: Talmage Hutto and Mrs. Mat Hutto, iving in adultery; witnesses?Albert Etodgers, Mrs. Albert Rodgers, Eddie Vlartin, Mat Martin, Jesse Poole and Mabalie Blackwell.
