Dutch Fork Citizaa is Opposed g
to Annexation. I
To the Editor of Too Dispatch: 3
The ann sat ion scheme is before us I g
again in full blast. From what I can i 3
learn, the people ot New Brookland jj
want to annex with Richland to get a ! |j
free hridge. Who ha9 promised a free i
budge? I say whenever they get a *
free bridge they will pay for it. Sine ; B

they hold malice in their heart against j v<
Lexington count}', and they can't leii '
why: some want to co became ''they" j

property, and some wanf to go just to I
be going. j
Nov.?, letmetell you, fellow citizens, a
kind friends and neighbors, I don't ]
care where you go, you will pay for ]
i what you get. The day of giving is j
past. 3
And, as for the Fork, I can't see for ; I
my life what it wants to annex with j j
Richland for, but I suppose to vote ( 5
more bonds to Iree those bridges, j
They havent gotten enough or paying
for bonds. As for myself, I have had
bonds enough to do me the balance of
my life, let it be long or short. Tliey ^
want to buy an old, dilapidated
bridge at a good price, which is liable ^
to burn down at any time, thus necessitating
the building of a steel
bridge at considerable cost. The
atfir-bhftlflpru T um fnlil arfl nnvinns
to sell. I Jo not blame them at all. j
The bridge is getting in a critical condition
and only bringing a small divi,
dend.
Where is the advantage in splitting
the For>.? None whatever. In the
next place, Richland don't want it;
she has her hands full already to carry
on her own business. On the other
hand, it will misput the people
t causing many of them to pay taxes in
both counties. Furthermore, it will ~
put the people of Lexington to the m
unnecessary expense and trouble of g
holding an election. I say it is un- Q
called for. v
I would like to ask in all candoi:
Do the Richland leaders think, deep j
down in their heart9, that they aje
treating the citizens who would be *
left in Lexington neighborly? No.
Pat yourselves in their places and
make an honest confession, tell the !
truth and shame the devil. Do you
think it right to crook about and cut
off ail of the most yaluable property, ;
after we have helped to pay for the f
railroad, to take all of the railroad g

it will cock any dinner and not
heat the room. hJo heat, no smell,
no smoke, no coal to bring in, no ashes
to carry out. It docs away with the
drudgery of cooking, and makes it a
pleasure. Women with the light touch j
for pastry especially appreciate it, because
they can immediately have a
quick fire, simply by turning a handle.
No half-hour preparation. It not only
is less trouble than coal, but it coats
less. Absolutely no smell, no smoke;
and it doesn't heat the kitchen.
The nickel finish, with the turquoise
blue of the enameled chimneys, makes
the stove ornamental and attractive. ,
