Examinations.
The examination for the award of
scholarships in Clemson Agricultural
College will be held in the County
j Court House on Friday, July 8th, at
9 a. m. Applicants must fill out proper
for us, to be secured from the County
Superintendent of Education, before
they will be allowed to stand the examinations.
For detailed information,
apply to the Superintendent of Education,
or to the President of Clemson
College.
Applicants for admission to the College,
but not seeking for the scholarships,
will also stand entrance examinations
at the court house July 8th.
The scholarships are worth $iuo ana
free tnition.
The next session of the college
opens Sept. 14tb, 1910.

Death of S. Frank SCoCartha.
H. Frank McCartha, aged 33 years,
died at Hot Springs, Ark., on last
Wednesday morning, and his remaina
were laid to rest in the cemetery at
St. Mathews Lutheran church, near
Gilbert, on Friday afternoon at 4
o'clock with la9t sad rites by the Rev.
A. R. Taylor.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse
McCartha, of near Gilbert. Several j
years ago he left his borne to take a I
business course in one of the colleges I
at Macon, Ga. He accepted a position
in Augusta and later in Charleston.
About seven years ago he went *
to Memphis. Tenn., where he engaged
m uie mercantile ousmess, meeting
with eminent succe99. (
About a year ago he had a case of o
smallpox, from the effects of which he J
never fully recovere i. J
He is survived by his aged parents K
and five brothers and one sister. a
