Give Mr. Livingston a call when you go to B^tesburg. ?BEAT CONCERT COMING ? TO LEXINGTON. On next Friday night. May 20th, the concert band of Allen University will present to the citizens of Lexington a swell concert which will be highly appreciated by all who attend. The concert will be composed of both male i' and female quartettes, vocal and instrumental solos and duetts. Duetts with piano and cornet. Admission, 15c. A couple 25c. The concert will be given in the hall over the Lexington Pressing Club, and Rev. Nelson has arranged special seats for white people. ? Commencement Nest Week. The commencement exercises of the Palmetto Collegiate Institute will be held next week, beginning on Sua-day morning with the baccalaureate sermon by the Rev. Dr. J. H. Harmes, > president of Newberry College. The commencement proper will begin on 'Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock with exercises by the students of the primary department, There will also be exercises on Monday evening. The commencement will come to a close on Tuesday evening with exercises by the graduating class and toe literary address by Dr. S. C. |Mitchell, president of the University of South Caro lina. The exercises by the' students will * be held in the school building, while the sermon will be preached from St. Stephen's Lutheran church. ?m? Big Reward for Thomas Craft. TTT Governor Martin P. Ansel has offer> ed a reward of $100 for the capture; and delivery of Thomas J. Craft to the Sheriff of Lexington county. It will be recalled that Craft killed Garfield Hutto, in the lower part of > the county, on the night of December 28,1908. He was tried at the February term of court last year, convicted of murder with recommendation to \ mercy and sentenced to serve the balance of his life in the State peniten< tiary. His case was appealed to the higher court, and while awaiting de, velopraents, Craft escaped from jail *f> on Thanksgiving night last year by sawing his way to liberty. Thomas A. Whittle, another white prisoner, escaped at the same time, , but was-soon recaptured at his home ' * near Ridge Spring. The reward offered by the Governor brings the amount up to $200, Sheriff Corley having offered $100 for Craft's , arrest soon after his escape. Craft, about 5ft. 10 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds, light complexion, clean shaven, blue eyes, sandy hair parted in middle, is fond of picking a banjo, carries himself erect and makes a good appearance, to the Sheriff of Lexington County, at Lexington, S.
