Columbia is coming to the front.
Her baseball club is beginning to win,
and the ssason has just begun.
We wonder how many of the public
schools in Lexington county will
make an effort to secure aid from the
State. The opportunity presents itself;
will cho people grasp it?
The whole world mourns the death
of Samuel L. Clements, better known
as "Mark Twain." which occurred at
his home in Redding, Conn., on last
Thursday at the age of 75 years.
Five men are to govern the affairs
of a great city like the capital of
South Carolina. Now it is "up to"
the people of Columbia to give these
five men strong backing if the new
form of government 19 to be a succe99.
Mr. Charlie Green has leased the

Mrs. Lena Amick, of Lexington, S. ,

found Doan's Kidney Pills to be a very v
good kidr.ey remedy. I suffered a 3
. ^reat deal from kidney complaint and ?
although I used a number or remedies, I
I did not receive much relief. Not ,
long ago I heard about Doan's Kidney i

am feeling better than I have in a long :

Why does Great Britian buy
its oatmeal of us?
Certainly it seems like carrying
coals to Newcastle to speak of exporting
oatmeal to Scotland and yet, every
year the Quaker Oats Company sends
hundreds of thousands of cases of
Quaker Oats to Great Britian and
Europe.
The reason is simple; while the
English and Scotch have for centuries
eaten oatmeal in quantities and with a
regularity that has made them the
most rugged physically, and active
mentally of all people, the American
has been eating oatmeal and trying all
the time to improve the methods of
manufacture so that he might get that
desirable foreign trade.
How well he has succeeded would
be seen at a glance at the export reports
on Quaker Oats. This brand is
without a rival; is packed in regular
packages, and in hermetically sealed
tins for hot climates. 51
