The attendance of pas tors was good, but that of the lay-Je! egarcs was net so full, doubtless du< to the busy season. The discussions of the practical anc doctrinal subjects were both interesting and instructive to the large audi enoes w men wore every nay in at tendance. The object of this body i; principally to instruct, and to arous* the people to a greater zeal and activity through their congregation? and synods. The Laymen's Missionary Move ment was presented on Saturday anc Sunday by the field secretary, Rev. E C. Oronk, of Columbia. The counci of Providence church appointed a mis sionary committee to inaugurate the movement among their members by distributing missionary literature among them. Sermons were preached on Friday by Rev. C. A. Freed, of Columbia; or Saturday by Rev. W. II. Greever, 1) D., of Columbia; and on Sunday bj Rev. J. C. Wes9inger, of Cedar Grove church. The Holy Communion was celebrat ed on Friday for the benefit of the ministers, because Lutheran ministers do not generally believe in adminis tering the communis to th:mselves. The officers are: R?v. 33. D. Wcs singer, pre&ident; Rev. W. P Cline vice-president; Rev. S. C. Ballentiue secretary: Prof. J. E. Rawl Kyzer treasurer.
