To the Editor of The Dispatch: By a mere oversight the names of the bovs who compose the Piney Woods School Club were omitted when the Lexington County Boys' Com j Ciub was tormed here on the 23th alt. ! Mr. A. F. Swygert, who is principal I of this school, was instrumental in the I organization of the Boys' Corn Club of ) this county, a9 he took a great deal of interest, in the matter and went so far as to teach agriculture at his school. The following boys compose the above club: Harlanrl Frick, Horace Prick. Ruins Cannon. Lo.y Sox, Ezra Mathews, Berley Frick. Relative to the Boys' Corn Club, will say that Lever, the Shoe Man, of Columbia, otters a prize of $25 to the boy raising the largest amount of corn noon an acre in Lexington county. This offer ha9 been accepted and should be an incentive to me industrious boys of this county. Hon. E. C. Ridgell offers $5 to the boy raising the most corn on an acre of land, and also $-5 to the girl writing the best essay on "Country Life." These offers are certainly inspiring and somebody will be rewarded for hi9 efforts. M. L. Barre and Geo. S. Wingard had tneir names enrolled the other day as members of the County Corn Club, and this runs the number up to twenty-nine. A. D. Martin, County Supt. Education. To Work Augusta Bead. The chaingang will move from New Brookland to the Augusta road this week?Friday or Saturday. It is hoped that the people living along the line will aid as much as possible in building this piece of road. The otl er sections of the county have aided in the work, and it is thought that the people of this section will respond. Pensisa List Closed. Capt. S. M. Roof, chairman of the county } easion board, informs us that the pension list for the current year has been closed and the same forwarded to the comptroller general. There were 26 new applicants and one transfer. Twenty-one died during la*?t year. Capt. Rcof is one of the most conscient ous men in the State, and every pensioner i-j treated honestly and fairly.
