Poisoned By Eating CandyClement Jennings Russell, the fouryear-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Russell, died Friday evening after an illness of but two days. The death of little Clement Russell was due to eating poisoned chocolate candy. The attending physician stated that poisoning from the candy was the cause of death. Some days ago Mr. Russell took home some very nica chocolate candy. All the family ate of it freely, but it seems that Clement was the only one who got hold of a piece that was poisonous.?Spartanburg Ht-rald. In accordance with the law in reference to the assessment and taxation of real and personal property, the Auditor, or his assistant, will be and attend the following named places for the purpose of receiving tax returns for the fiscal year 1910, and in order to meet the next appointment, the hour will close at 11 o'clock in the morning and at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Taxpayers will, therefore, be prompt in meeting tne appointments, i so as not to cause delay. Taxpayers will please come pre-1 pared to give the name of the township and number of school district wherein they reside; number of acres, lots and buildings, with value of taxation: At Lexington, C. II., all days not included in above schedule, from Jan. 1, 1910, to Feb. 20, 1910, when the books will close, after wnich 50 per oent. will be added for failure to make returns. Tax returns sent in by mail are not legal unless sworn to before an officer qualified to administer oaths. All male persons are subject to poll tax from 21 to 00 years of age, except those exempt by law. Under the new law all dogs are subject to a capitation tax of 50 cents and must be returned at the same time when other property is returned. W. D. DENT, Auditor of Lexington County. There lives an editor in the interior of Pennsylvania, "Jim" Sweeney by name, who has a keen sense of humcr. Seeking to increase his fortune, Sweeney once wrote to a prospective advertiser, setting forth in attractive fashion, the value of his paper as a medium of publicity. The advertiser was captivated by Sweeney's letter, but desirous of more specific assurances before he invested his money, he wrote to Sweeny, saying that he hadn't heard of the Trumptown Sentinel.
