That the majority of the people of Xexington county want a state-wide prohibition law i9 obvious to all. Not only that, but the majority of the people of the State want such a law. Now in the face of these facts, what "will the legislature do? Will it give the people what they want or will it trample under foot their wishes? First Week With Auditor. On last Tuesday we began our annual trip over the county with Auditor Dent. N Our work completed at Gaston, we drove to Swansea. Wednesday and Thursday w ere spent in serving the people of this prosperous town and vicinity. Here the largest crowd met us within our recollection. There was a continuous rush from the time the Auditor opened his books Wednes- i day morning until they were closed ' Thursday evening. Swansea is, without doubt, one of the most prosperous towns in the State. Her business men are' progressive and the stocks of merchandise carried by the leading merchants would do credit to cities many times the size of Swansea* The Bank of Swansea, which was organized oniy a few years ago, is filling a long-felt want in the community, and is flourishing as the green bay tree. Irs officers are men of recognized business ability who have the confidence and esteem of the people. This week we begin at Pelion and end up on Saturday at Gilbert. Next week we go into the Dutch Fork, and we trust that the good people of that section will meet us promptly with their dues. G. M. H. i Died of Heart Failure. Special to The Dispatch. Gaston, Jan. 11.?Mr. D. A. Shank, one of Lexington's best citizens, died very suddenly of heart failure at his home near here on Monday evening. He leases a wife, one son and one daughter to mourn his loss. The 4-days-old infant of Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Bush was buried on Sunday. Billy Felix.
