Mr. and Mrs. Graham will visit Lexngfcon during the holidays. Mr. Crim Was Bsleased. Mr. J. Wes Crim, who was arrested i few days ago upon the charge of ffson, it haying been alleged that he et fire to the barn of his brother, Yanly Crim, on last Saturday night a peek ago, was given a preliminary ?n Thursday before Magistrate D. Meetee, a white man of New trookland, is in jail charged with obaining money under false pretences nd disposing of mortgaged property. Le was arrested on Saturday by Depty Sheriff Miller. To the Editor of The Dispatch : Miss Sarah and Master Joe Bates Huffman are recovering from their recent illness. Mrs. J. H. Huffman is still at the KnowlLon Hospital in Columbia, where she underwent a serious operation a few days a^o. She is improving rapidly, however. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Huffman have returned home after a very pleasant bridal tour to Charleston, Savannah, Ga., Jacksonville, Fla., and Brunswick, Ga. St. Andrews school was visited a few days ago by Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Myers, of New Brookland, both of whom made interesting addresses. Mrs. Mollis Huffman and Mrs. W. T. Huffman visited at the home of Mr. S. R. Tounginer last week. Miss Inez Bearden, of Columbia, spent a few days with her grandmother recently. Miss Pearl Leitzy has returned from a brief visit to Charleston. Misflj Georgia Miller visited her schoolmate, Miss Ada Younginer, a few nights ago. X Mr. Pink Meetze, who has been ill for some time, has recovered. Miss Anna Bach man Dreher and Mr. William Stobbs were happily married on the ninth. Miss Lola Fulmer and Mr. Alfred Wingard were also married on the ninth. A Pupil. December 11. Jaccb Corley Dead. Mr. Jacob Corley, one of the oldest resident! of this place, died at his home near the depot on Saturday morning at 3 o'clock. He has been in failing health for several weeks, bat tie died suddenly, heart trouble being assigned as the immediate cause. Mr. Corley was a lifelong resident of Lexington. He w as nearly 80 years of age and is survived by two brothers and three sisters. He was bnried in the family burying ground on Sundry afternoon with services by the Ray. T. S. Brown, pastor of St. Stephen's Lutheran church, of which the deceased was a member. He was never married. ? Notice of Examination. Teachers who are now teaching in the free public schools of this county, and who do not hold certificates as required by law, should take notice of the following communication which was sent me a few days age: "In view of the failure of many teachers to comply with the law requiring certificates to teach in the free public schools, this hoard orae s an extra teachers' examination to be held on the 7th of January, 1910." It is very important that teachers should hold certificates and have tiem recorded in the office of the County Superintendent of Education.
