Our Trip to Brookland.
Our rounds over the county with the
treasurer for the year 1900, were conj
eluded at Brookland, the coming city
on the Congaree. last Saturday.
I Here we did not meet very many of
I the taxpayers and collections were
J not what they should nave been.
: Brookland is a good town despite its
close proximity to Columbia The
merchants seem to be prospering, as
veil as the cotton mill operatives, of
which the town is largely made-up.
These people are intelligent, and progressive.
They are happy and con?

tentea, necanse tney nave learnea to
work and appreciate the many opportunities
afforded them. The cotton
mill9 are running on good time and
are not anticipating an early shutdown.
While in Brookland we were the
gue9ts of our cousins, Mis. Edwin
Shall and Mrs, Paul Wessinger, where
we were most delightfully and charmingly
entertained. Both are ideal
housekeepers, and the dinner that was
set before us was fit for the gods. It?
is indeed a pleasure to be with these
good kinsfolk and enjoy their generous
and unbonnded hospitality.
Brookland, like the other towns in
the county, is making progress, and 1*9
enjoying its share of the present prosperity.
Dr. Boyd'i Sure-Pop Colic
Remedy.
This remedy is guaranteed to relieve [
Colic in its most severe form, or money
refunded. Colic is the most com- '
mon ailment of horses, mules and cattle.
There are more hordes die of
colic than all jther diseases combined.
Any one ov ,ing a horse can not afford
to be ithout a bottle of DR.
BOYD'S re-Pop Colic Remedy at
all times. It is without doubt, as testified
to by thousands of owners of
horses who have used it. as the mo9t
wonderful colic remedy on the market.
Relieves in from twenty to thirty
minutes belly ache, flatulant and
spasmodic colic in its most severe 1
forms and stages. When a horse is j
taken with colic, DR. BOYD'S SurePop
Colic Remedy should be administered
at once. When colic is not
checked at the outset, it i9 very liable
to develop into inflammation of the j
bowels, and when it does, there is little
chance of saving the 1 orse's life..
It is the easiest to give, quickest to
act. Safest and cheaper than any
