Gaston, whi not making any great progress, holding its own. Money is not plentiful in this vicinity, due to tl tact that the farmers have sold the cotton and paid their debts. Th< are feeling good over the fact th they live at home and board at tl same place. Crops around Gastc were good this year, and the me chants are well pleased with the trae so far this fall. Mr. Castello Goodw is the leading merchant of the plat and carries a large and well select* stock. C. H. Hartley aud Alex Gooi win are the other merchants and boi are receiving a fair trade. Mr. Hart is still the accommodating and effic ent postmaster, while our old frien< G. A. Goadwin is the popular dep< asrent. We enjoyed a bountiful dii ner at the hospitaable home of INI and Mrs. W. A. Goodwin, with wlioi we are always delighted to stop. Having finished our work at Gastoi we drove to Swansea.
