Mr. Shealy was truly a good man and
will be missed in the community

' Mr. D. A. Hicks Dead.
Mr. D. A. Hicks, one of the oldest
and most highly respected citizens of
the county, died at his home on Broad
river on Monday, the 5th, at the advanced
age of 75 years. Mr. Hicks
was a gallant Confederate soldier, "being
a member of Co. K. 20th South
Carolina regiment. He is survived
by his widow, one son and one daugh
ter, one brother and one si9ter. ne
was buried at Bookman's church on
, the 6th.

eugaged to-day in the reference case
of C. S. Rauch vs. H. L. Oswald.
This bids fair to be one of the most
interesting ca9e9 ever recorded in this
county and involves the sum of about

The remarkable cure in two extreme
cases of opium and cocaine addictions
that had been made at Dr.
Woolley's Sanitarium in Atlanta, Ga.,
were freely commented upon by the
r Constitution, the leading paper in that
, city. The Constitution said: "These!

phine and cocaine, each using from
forty to sixty grains of morphine and
from twenty to twenty-five grains of
r cocaine, hypodermically, in twenty
four hours. Their vital forces were

mass of sores as a result of the punct
ture of needles. Both of these patients
