Leesville, Aug. 17.?Leesville came
! near having a fatal accident as a re- j
j suit of reckless automobile driving. I
i The road from Leesville to Batesburg j

gy and tried to held his mule, but
when the automobile dashed by, the
animal became unmanageably, and
tore away, running over Mr. Shealey.
The boy remained in the buggy and as
if by a miracle, was unhurt, although
the buggy was upset, and torn in
pieces. Mr. Shealey was not so fortunate.
The mule stepped on him and
both wheels of the buggy passed over
him. Medical help was called at once
but he was delirious much of the
time last night. His head and spinal
column are seriously injured. Mr9.
Shull, of Batesburg, was thrown from
her buggy two weeks ago, her horse
taking fright from the same automobile,

Priest's Fatal Love. "
A terrible tragedy was recently enacted
at Vienna when Joseph Senigl,
a Roman Catholic priest, shot his mother
and then himself, owing to a love
affair.
The priest had fallen in love with a
erirl and informed his parents that he
intended to leave the church in order
to enable him to marry. Hi9 mother,
who was very pious, declared that she
j would commit suicide if such a dis
grace was brought on the family.
In the heat of the quarrel the priest
drew a revolver and shot his mother
through the head. Then, seized with
horror, he blew his own brains out
