To Announea Names Of Ceasus Employes. Washington, Aug, 11.?The names of the more than 300 supervisors of the 13th census to be appointed by President Taft will be made public next Saturday or Monday by the president, it was unofficially learned here today. Assistant Secretary McHarg of the department of commerce and labor and Census Director Durand will go to Beverly, Mass., in a few days, it is understood, to confer with the president about the appointments. In the Southern States, where it is proposed to divide the appointments as nearly equal a9 possible between Democrats and Republicans, the appointments probably will be delayed, as recommendations have not been re-* ceived and the division has not yet been made. Marietta, Ga., Aug. 11.?Willard Webb, a negro, was this afternoon convicted here of criminal assault upon a white woman atVinnings, several weeks ago. and was sentenced to hang September 17. To prevent a possible lynching, the negro was rushed to Atlanta on a train and there he will remain until the day of execution. As positive identification has not been made, it is not believed there will be aDy attempt to lynch Gibson. ? Shoots Wife And Her Lover. | Raleigh, X. C., Aug. 11.?A special S | from Manteo, X. C.. says: 1 | A1 Thompson today shot and killed ja i his wife and wounded W. H. Seaman, & the man with whom she eloped re- ? turned and abducted two children in k Thompson's possession, and to regain g possession of the children the shoot- 9 ing occurred. | The report is Thompson, upon learn- I ing that his wife had returned and H secured his children, armed himself with a revolver and went and demanded them. Seaman met him on the porch and refused to surrender the children, whereupon Thompson shot him down. In the meantime the woman was seen trying to escape with the smaller child In her arms, and Thompson, with the weapon still smoking, shot her dead. At a late hour Seaman is still living, but the physicians have not been able to extract the bullet, which is lodged in his breast or shoulder. Thompson hunted the sheriff and surrendered. I A boar, maddened by the heat, to- ^ day ran wild on a West Middletown farm and seriously wounded one man and killed three valuable horses before being shot to death, says a dispatch from Washingtoh, Pa., to the Philadelphia North American. The animal, which was owned by A. K. Rush, broke out of its pen and attacked a pony in the barn yard. Before the pony could escape the hog had gored it to death with its tu9ks. The boar then broke through a fence into a nearby field and attacked a team of horses. Cornering the animals, the boar sprang at them and dismembered them. Leaving the mangled bodies of the horses, the boar turned on Smith and ripped open one leg from ankie to thigh. !
