Shealy's 'cue will be on Saturday August 14th. Silled a Rattlesnake. Mr. Sam Hendrlx, of Saxe-Gotha, killed a large rattlesnake on Monday. The snake measured five feet and four inches and carried twelve rattles and a button. Enforcement of Prohibition. Columbia. July 17.?The question has been asked, what is to be done by the Governor towards the enforcement of prohibition during the two weeks interregnum, and in those counties that might vote for prohibition in the August election. * .or;: The News and Courier representative asked Governor Ar.sel what his view9 were concerning the enforcement of prohibition during the three week period, and particularly in those counties that might vote for prohibition and prior to the session of the 1 General Assembly. 4 Cnvprnnr Anftpl iq r>f the nninion 1 that Section 38 of the dispensary law is applicable and furnishes all the law that may be necessary, and he will act on that line. The section *eads: "It 9hall be the duty of the sheriffs, their deputies, magistrates, constables, rural police, city and town officials, to enforce the provisions of this Act. If i hey fail to do so, it is hereby made the duty or the Governor to enforce the same, and he is hereby ^authorized to" appoint such deputies, constables and detectives ae may be necessary; the salaries and expenses of such officers to be j aid out of the ' profits of ihe dispensaries iu counties wherein tliey may be established, aDd out of the ordinary county funds in counties wherein they have not been established.'' Governor Ansel expects to put com ties that vote out the county dispensaries in August 011 the same legal status as Greenville, Spartanburg or other counties that hsyve no dispensaries.
