UNUSUAL DROWNING
TEAGEDY.
Dragged from a launch by a wire
catching her under the chin, Dorothy
Bruce was drowned at Iowa Falls,
la., last week, as was also Archie
Drake, who jumped into the water to
save her.

Wednesday afternoon, who was
suspected of the brutal murder last
week of E. B. Wilson, a prominent
merchant of Briarfield, Ala. When
the sheriff went to arrest the negro
he showed fight and was killed.

The Edgefield cotton mill, which has
been in the hands of a receiver, was =
sold at public outcry on Saturday and

Son Huff, a negro supposed to be the
person who has been robbing Greenville
residences for the past several
months, was arrested on Saturday
morning at 2 o'clock. About forty
houses have been robbed, and he has
confessed to having robbed several of
them.

A curious wedding took place in
Greenville on Sunday. Frank Dial,
colored, who had been sentenced to
life iraprisoment in the penitentiary
for breaking into a house and stealing
a skirt, was married to Eva Williams,
the prosecutrix.
Lexington Vs. Oak Grove.
On Saturday afternoon the Oak
Grove ball team crossed bats with the
Lexington Depot team, resulting in a
victorv for Oak Grove by a score of 8 sm
to 7. It was a good game, both teams Bp
playing excellent ball. The visitors
were a jolly set of good fellows and it
