The Record's Pathfinders. The Columbia Record's Capital-toConnty pathfinders passed through Lexington on Monday morning. Mr. Ja9. A. Hoyt, the brilliant editor of The Record, Mayor Reamer, Mr. Jno. 1 J. Cain and Mr. Roddy, accompanied J the scouts as far as this place. 1 Hon. Frank W. Shealy, clerk of the court and one of the most ardent supporters of the good roads movement i in this county, accompanied the path- | 1 finding party, composed of Messrs. j < Baker, Horton, Kind, Yonngblood 1 and Fishburne, as far as Johnston, re- i turning to Lexington on the afternoon ! train. Mr. Shealy was delighted with 1 the trip. < This undertaking on the part of ' The Record will undoubtedly prove j {. beneficial to the entire state. ( r ?- i To Develop "Waterpower. ; For the past several days a large i force of hands has been at work near Dreher's ferry, laying the preliminary i plans for the development of the wa- t terpower at that place. < It seems to be a certainty now that < this power will be developed. It is c understood that a syndicate, headed | by Mr. Jas. U. Jackson, of North An- i gosta, has secured an option on the a property, which practically means f the purchase of trie property. Mr. \ Jackson was here a few days ago with e some capitalists from Pittsburg, Pa., i % who are interested in tne project, it is c i said.. t With the development of the water- i power at Dreher's, it is said that the t AngU9ta-Aiken aud Columbia Elec- d trie railway will take on new life. c Lexington cannot afford to let this s opportunity pass to aid the promoters s of these undertakings which means so S much to the county and herresources. s ===== o . Girl Accuses Her Brother. 1 There is a young man in the Cherokee County jail charged with a most terrible crime. His name is Bascomb Brant. His sister, who is a cripple, and is only about sixteen years of age, gave birth to a child a few nights ago, and upon being question ed in regard to the paternity of the f infant, said that her brother, Bascomb, wa9 its father. Brant was arrested and committed to jail the next day under the charge of incest. C. P. ! Sims, of Spartanburg-, represents the defendant, and ha9 sued out a writ of t habeas corpus, which will be heard by f Judge Gary on Tuesday. It is said y that the girl now says that she was out t of her head when she made the state- * Tnftnt imnlie&tiner her brother. The I Brants live at the Hamrick Mills vil- J lage, and have not been residents of J , Gaffney v?ry long. c C Chamberlain's Stoinach and Liver r Tablets gently stimulate the liver and i bowels to expel poisonous matter, g cleanse the system, cure constipation t * and sick headache.
