To the Editor of The Dispatch: | The rainy weather continues and crops are in a critical condition. Since May 20th we have had only a few days that the land has not been too wet to plow and grass has such a stronghold that it looks like some fields will have to be abandoned. Our "olde9t inhabitent" does not remember ever hav ing seen such a long siege of wet weather at this season of the year. Notwithstanding the wet weather a great many peas have been sown on stubble land, but on account of continued rains those that are up do not look as well as they ought. Our roads are in a wretched condition, whether owing to defective road laws or the want of properly carrying them out, this deponent sayeth not. I would suggest to our worthy supervisor that he make a trip to white Rock and from there to Spring Hill road, cross said road, and at the first fork take either the Kennerly or the Lewis' Ferry road and go as far down the former as Shady Grove road, and then back via J. J. Kesler's to Spring Hill road. He will be very apt to find that in some instances, at least, advertising does not pay. Those roads are all important highways and, in my judgment, need immediate attention. They have not been worked this year. Mr. John Kesler, who has been sick a long time, is up and about, but is not able to do any work. The neighbors have helped him some in planting and working his crop. H. June 23.
