house on Friday, July 2, at 9 a. m.
Applicants must be not less than fifteen

are vacant after July 2 they will
be awarded to those making the highest
average at this examination, pro
vided they meet the conditions governing

Horner Military School.
Tbe Horner Military School, of Oxford,
N. C., has jnst completed the
exercises of its fifty-ninth year, and it
ha9 never 9een a greater closing than
it has just passed through. Tuesday
night the literary exercises took place
in the opera house, every seat being

the exercises. Wednesday was given
over to the entertainment of the alumni.
In the morning were dumbbell
drill, Butt's manuel of rifle drill, and
a game of baseball between the "Old
> Horner Boys" and the school team.
In the afternoon came the magnificent
Alumni Address by ex-Lieutenant
Governor Frank D. Winston, and
his audience were judges, lawyers,
doctors, preachers, statesmen, industrial
captains, and leading business
men, who received their preliminary
training at this school. At night in
the big auditorium of the barracks two'
hundred and one covers were laid at
the Alumni banquet. Beautiful decorations
and brilliant lights marked
the scene, and the distinguished guests
pronounced the reunion as eminent
success.
On Thursday occurred the competitive
drill between companies, field and
track athletics, followed by the presentation
of medals' and colors to the
winning company.
