The business session was opened Patuiday morning at 9:30 with prayer and praise service. The devotional exercises was conducted by Hon. E. L. Asbill, reading 1 The9., 5th chapter. Mr. Asbill emphasized the fact that what we expect to be or ever wi9b to be we must be "soul winners." The welcome address was given by Prof. L. B. Karnes, in his big hearted way, making one and all, delegate and visitor glad to be in Leesville, the hospitable town on the ridge. The response was impressively made by Rev. W. S. Myers. Hon J. W. \Vay, field secretary, ably discussed, Organization, Whv? When? How? The following were delegates, which represented almost all townships: Leesville?Rev. S. H. Booth, Rev. S. Cronk, The importance of arganization was very interesting to the large audience ?by Rev. Staniy R. Grnbb. Duties of county and township officers were plainly shown by Mr. Way. Home department was beautifully illustrated by Mrs. E. C. Cronk. Several round tables, Sunday school superintendents and teachers, were discussed by Mr. Way and was enjoyed hy all. The mission of Sunday school was brought out systematically, emphasizing men and women for God, by Prof. C. A. Fellers. The subject, teaching and teachers, was skillfully handled by Revs. S. C. Ballentine and S. H. Booth. House to house visitation was discussed from points of both observation and experience, by Prof. H. A. Brunson and Mr. Way. f The following officers weA elected for the ensuing year: President, Rev. W. S. Myers; vice-president, Dr. E. J. Etheredge; secretary and treasurer, Miss E. L. Able. The adult bible movement was made so home-touchiug that each delegate felt duty bound to take that one theme to their own field of work. This was made by the field secretary. How the organized Sunday school helps the denomination was given in such a way as to entirely obliterate denominational lines in the Sunday school wTork by Prof. H. A. Brunson. The cradle roll, from an experimental standpoint, especially experience in the mill sections, was presented by Mrs. W. S. Myers. The field secretary had to speak for only a few minutes on '"Our Finances" before the people responded with $12S. It was regretted that Rev. S. 0. Cantey, of Batesburg, 011 account of sickness could not preach the Sunday morning sermon. By request Rev. AV. S. Myers preached, having for his theme, "Prayer." Sunday afternoon brought the conj vention to a close. Last, but by 110 means least, was the following: Elementary department, superintendent, Mrs. \V. S. Myers; Home, Miss Beulah Fox; Adult, Prof. H. A. Brunson; Teacher Training, Rev. S. C. Best brands of cigars always found at The Bazaar. A Happy Woman. Is she not the very sparkle and sunshine of life? A Woman who is happy because she can't help it, whose smiles even the coldest sprinkle of misfortune cannot dampen. Men make a terrible mistake when they marry for beauty, for talents, or for style. The sweetest wives are those who possess the magic secret of being contented under any circumstances. Rich or poor, high or low, makes no difference; the bright little fountain of joy bubbles up just as musically in their hearts. Do they live in a log cabin, the fire that leaps upon its humble hearth becomes brighter than the gilded chandeliers in an Aladdin palace. Where is the stream of life so dark and unproportious that the sunshine of a happy face falling on the turbid tide will not waken <111 answering *gleam? Why, these joyful, good-tempered people don't know half the good they do.?Dallas New Era. Fat Boy Buns Away. New York.-Because he was fat and was afraid that he could not get out of the building in time, should a fire break out, was the excuse given by Harry Eggert, a four teen-year-old 365 pounds boy for failure to attend school, when brought to the bar in the children's court in Brooklyn. Harry appeared in his father's freak show us the "champion fa: boy," but as he is under age he was arrested by agents of the Children's Society. He says that he has never been sick in his life, likes cold weather and knows what it is to be fat in summer time. i The more relatives a man has the J more comfortably he could gi t along I without any of them. 11% 1=14Pa II.il i vnll save the dyspeptic from many | days of misery, and enable him to eat j whatever he wishes.
