As the outcome of a long standing
feud Prof J. D. Harris, principal of
the Warrenton, Va.f high, school, shot
and fatally wounded W. A. Thompson,
associate editor of the Warrenton
Virginian, on Main street Sunday
night. The excitement is intense and I
reports are conflicting. Thompson
was removed from the scene of the
tragedy to the Warren Green hotel,
where he died at nine o'clock.

A Difficult Proposition.
Running a newspaper, says the Anderson
Intelligencer, is a difficult
proposition. The farmers don't like
the baseball dope and society columns;
the baseball fans don't like the agricultural
articles; the malefactors don't
like the police court reports; the city
council don't like the editorial columns.
The Pain Made Her Faint.
"For almost four years I had a sore
on my leg," says Mrs. Olive Hurd of
Madison, N. H., "and this spring a

An Embarrassing Mistake.
A short time ago, says The CourierJournal,
a young lady was troubled
with a boil on her knee which grew so j

father suggested several others, and
finally said that he would call in the
physician with the homoepathic case,
who passed the house every day. They
kept a sharp lookout for him and when
he came along he was called in. The
young lady modestly showed him the j
disabled member. The little man looked
at it and said: "Why, that's pretty
bad." "Well," she said, "what
must I do?" "If I were you," he answered,
"I would send for a physician.
