Whereas, The great and supreme

wisdom removed from among us one
of our worthy and esteemed fellowlaborers,
Bro. J. J. Cannon, on Dec.
25th, 1908; and, whereas, the long and
intimate relation held with him in the
faithful discharge of his duties in our
organization makes it eminently befitting
that we record our respect and
appreciation of him.
Resolved, TLat the wisdom and abiTity
which he has exercised in the aid
of our Local F. E. & C. U. of A., by
service, contributions, and counsel,
will be held in grateful remembrance.
Resolved, That such a life to be removed
from among our midst leaves
a vacancy and a shadow that will be
deeply realized by all members of our
organization and friends of our community,
and will prove a serious loss
to the public.
Resolved, That with deep sympathy
to the bereaved relatives of the
deceased, we express our hope that
even so great a loss to us all may be

Forget Me Not.
How oft I think of my darling girl,
Whom I so often call "my pet;"
No other girl like her I love,
Though I have tried hard to forget.
Those piercing eyes and smiling face i
Have never left me by one jot;
Though I be in some distant place,
0, dear, I will forget you not.
To forget is a dreadful task,
While I am in some lonely spot;
My heart to yours i9 riveted fast,
Of course I shall forget you not.
Some day the work will all be done,
When we have well arranged the plot;
When both our hearts melt into one,
Then, dear, you will forget me not.
When angry clouds all disappear,
Then we will reach a sunny spot,
Our hearts will throb without a fear,
Sweet girl I shall forget you not.

The prettiest girl and I
The light was out. and the hour was late.
For time, you know, will fly. By Jove!
How rapidly time will fly!
Together we sat in the welcome gloom.
Alone, unheard, unseen.
Though her mother was in the other
room.
With a thin portiere between.
I knew that the mother in ambush layAs

To carry the prettiest girl away?
Away to the land of dreams, by Jove,
To the wonderful land of dreams!
But the cherry-like lips of the pretty
miss,
Alas, were a templing sight.
And I ventured to beg for a tiny kissJust
one before "Good night."
Hut the prettiest girl resented that
In a way I'd never dreamed.
I For she airily sprang from where we sat.
And?what do you think??she screamed!
By Jove,
She certainly did?she screamed!
I caught the coquette in my arms?alack,
For such is the way of men!?
And gruffly demanded of her a smack.
And then?and then?and then?
Her mother came cruelly in with a light,
And what do you think she said?
"Oh, come, little lady, kiss daddy good
night!"
And carried her off to bed. by Jove,
And carried the baby to bed!

His Conundrum.
"What is the difference." asked the
man with the erratic eyebrows, "between
a tall, stout man whose wife
has purchased for him a pale pink
smoking jacket with yellow facings
and a pocket that is utterly out of convenient
reach at a dry goods store
late in the afternoon of the day before
Christmas, after having put off the purchase
for two weeks because she had
to attend half a dozen bridge parties,
and a large, jovial Russian nobleman
who has been convinced of the brotherhood
of man and who is devoting
himself to the laudable work of converting
the people on his estates?"
"How's that?" asked the man with
the dilatory mustache.
The man with the erratic eyebrows
repeated the query, and the other man.
