Bela Snellen Wir.gard was born August ?0, 1859. Was baptized in infancy; was confirmed a member of i'ilgrhn E. L. Church at maturity, of which siie was a consistent and faithful member until her death. She was quiet and unassuming;, yet firm in her convictions. She was affectionate and trustful, which traits of character bound all who knew her with the strong bands of love. She suffered for some time from a fatal malady, all of which she bore without complaining, until tlie (Jrim Reaper claimed her on March 2~>, 1909, making her age 19 years, 6 months and 26 days. She leaves a lovintr mother, a de voted father, two sisters, one brother, a host of relatives and friends whose hearts bleed over her departure. Pilgrim church lias lost a faithful member, her home circle has been broken, a rose plucked from eartli and transplanted in heaven. She was buried at Pilgrim, services by the pastor, assisted by Rev. Cronk. D. F. E. Mistaken Identity. The State. Lonnie Meetze, son of J. Sebastian I Meetze of the Dutch Fork, was in Columbia yesterday, having come down fjom Newberry College where he is a student, to tell the police and the public generally that he is not the Lonnie Meetze, also from the Dutch Fork, fined ?5 in recorder's court on the morning of March 5 on a charge of petty larceny. The young Meetze in tne city yesterday was Dy liiness confined to his home in Dutch Fork on or about March 5, but heard nothing of the trouble in which the other Lonnie Meetze was implicated in Columbia until he returned to college, when he became the recipient of many inquiries. The theft of a manicure set and a skirt was charged to the other Meetze who was convicted of the charge. The young man at Newberry college was at a loss to understand what he thought was a joke until he received a letter from his father summoning him home to explain the singular state of affairs as the elder Meetze had just heard of the conviction in recorder's court of a Lonnie Meetze. The Lonnie Meetze of Dutch Fork who is a student at Newberry went at once to Chief W. C. Cathcart yesterday and secured from him a statement that he had never appeared in recorder's court in Columbia on any charge whatsoever. Therefore the young man is in no wise to blame for having the same name as that of another Lonnie Meetze of Dutch Fork, and goes back to Dutch Fork and thence I to resume his studies at Isewberry college rejoicing and happy. He does not know the Lonnie Meetze figuring in recorder's court and thinks he must live in another section of the Dutch Fork than the one in which his family resides or else an imposter. Farmers are planting corn right along now. Rev. Felder preached an excellent sermon to a large congregation at Pond Branch Sunday. Mr. G. W. Smith went to Columbia on business yesterday. Small grain is looking well. Gardens in this section are growing rapidly and vegetables will soon be plentiful. Mr. Luther Smith is spending this week in Pelion. S. April 3.
