Dear Pastors and Members:
The time is short for our Foreign {
Mission board to close its books tor the
Convention at Louisville, Ky., and we
wiil have to work hard that our association
be able to meet its part of
the obligation. Last year the board
raised over $400,000. and was able to
report our ofdebtlast M.y. Our State
is asked this year to give ^'15,000.00 for
its part and our association, Lexington,
is asked to give $300.00. Very
little of this amouut has thus far been
contributed. Brother, may I depend
on you to see.after the collection in.
your church, tiave this done at once
and if possible not later than April 20,
and send it direct to Rev. R. J. Willingham,
Richmond, Va. Brother
Pastor. don*t forget this please.
I If any of the pastors want tracts on
this subject you may get all you need
from Dr. R. J. Willingham by writing
him a post card. Do it now.

James H. Till Ends Sis Life.
Elloree, March 13.?Mr. James H.
yTill, a young man 24 years old, comwnitted
suicide here recently at his
mother's home by taking carbolic acid.
While young Till had been known to
have been in despondent moods at
times, no one anticipated that he contemplated
taking his own life. He
was on the streets in the morning and j
appeared to be in the best spirit and
chatted very freely with his friends.

drug store and procured an ounce of
carbolic acid. Stopping at the dispensary,
he purchased a half pint of
whiskey. He thenywent directly to
his mother's home. After disrobing
himself drank the deadly poison diluted
with whiskey and called his mother,
who was in the adjoining room, saying
to her, "I have taken poison. I
have been a drag on you for a number
of years and I am going to end it.:'
A physician was immediately summoned,
but the young man was beyond
medical aid within a few minutes
after taking the drug.
This is the most dangerous time of the
year to catch cold, and it is the hardest
time to cure it. If you should take a
cold, a few doses of Kennedy's Laxative
Cough Syrup will act very promptly.
Its laxative principle cures the cold by
driving it from the system by a gentle
but natural action of the bowels. Children
especially like Kennedy's Laxative
Cough Syrup, as it tastes so good, nearly
like maple sugar. It is sold by Kaufmann
Drug Co.
Birthday Of Old
Caroline Pirate
Edward Leacb, the last of the Carolina
pirates, was born 250 years ago
Monday in Bristol, England. Familiarly
known as "Black Beard,,7 he was
one of the principal figures in what
has been called the golden age of pirace,
extending from the middle of
the seventeenth century through the
first quarter of the eighteenth. His
was a career of crime and oarnage
and he died with his boots on, while
engaged in a fight with officers at
Charleston in 171?.
John Matthews, colored, was killed
in Charleston by being hit on the
head with a shovel in the hands of
Henry Grant, also colored.

A failing tiny nerve?no larger than
the finest silken thread?takes from the
Heart its impulse, its power, its regularity.
The Stomach also has its hidden,
or inside nerve. It was Dr. Shoop who
first told us it was wrong to drug a weak

His prescrip tion?Dr. Shoop's Restorative?is
directed straight for the cause

late grown so rapidly in popularity.
Druggists say that those who test the
Restorative even for a few days soon
become fully convinced of its wonderful
merit. Anyway, don't drug the organ.
