Crazy Touth Sills Himself.
' Columbia, Feb. 24.?Walter Savarance,
of Darlington County, committed
suicide this morning at the
State Hospital for the Insane. Mr.
Savarance was a youDg man about 20
year9 of age. Ho has made several
attempts to kill himself, and a strict
surveillance has been kept over ..him,
but, as often happens in such cases,
he managed to snatch a razor and cut
his throat. It appears that there is a
regulation that the inmates should be
shaven about once a week at least, j
and the purpose is to keep the unfor- j
tunates in a neat and tidy condition. |
While the male attendant was attend- j
ing to the shaving young Savarance |
snatched up arazor and cut hid throat, j
He died instantly.

. A Lexington comty jury recently
gave a colored boy one thousand dollars
damages for being injured in a
saw-mill, and yet some folks at the
I north pretend to think that colored
|. folks have no rights that our courts
