Smith Carnival Company, who delighted all Lexington with ' high-class attractions last week, left on Sunday for Leesville, where they will remain all this week. This is one of the cleverest aggregations ever aeen in Lexington, and Mr. Smith, the genial manager, made a host of friends here. The Smith company will always find a warm welcome in Lexington. W. T. Jone9, the wealthy planter of Union county, was tried ana convicted la*t week of killing hie wife, Marion Jones, by strichnine poison. The jury recommended mercy, which means life imprisonment.
