There are many queer things that happen in life That we do not understand; And we sigh, and we wish for the, things in life ? That are not at our command. Glover, charged with the killing of Mr. E. S. Rawl, in Florida, a few weeks ago, The State correspondent called on Mr. Geo. Bell Timmerman, who was present at the hearing, for the facts in the case. His statement, which is based on the records, is widely different from the versions that have found their way into print. For instance, a write up in an Aiken newspaper of the 24th ult. says in effect that Mr. Rawl reached in his hip pocket for his pistol and, after the shot by Mr. Glover, that Mr. Rawl "had his hand on his own pistol." The facts given by the only ej^e-witness, Mr. A. M. Perry, bears out the statement that Mr. Rawl was un armed, and he made no motion as if to draw a pistol or any other weapon. On the contrary, he threw up his hands as if to catch Glover's pistol or to protect himself from the shot. The statement as published in The State, that Glover was held for manslaughter, ,is also incorrect. The committing magistrate decided that the defendant should be held for murder. Mr, Timmerman says that he found that Mr. Rawl has many friends in his adopted State, all of whom deplored the untimely end of ^uch a promising young man. The regret for the killing was deepened from the fact that there appeared no necessity for it. Beware of Frequent Colds.
