Wednesday, December 2.1908. Tree From Each County. The State says Mr. August F. Becker, who is in charge of the improvements being made on the State house grounds, proposes to put into execution a novel plan to make the State house grounds beautiful and in addition to provide associations that in later years will be much to South Carolina and her people. Many of the trees on the western side of*the State house must be taken replaced by others. Mr. Becker's idea is 10 have a tree from each county in the State and if possible to have each tree differant in variety. With a little assistance from South Carolina citizens ^of the counties that plan should materialize in the near future. Mr. Becker is very anxious to succeed in this plan and urges that every effort be made by South Carolina citizens to assist him in realizing this hope. Girth Spencer, aged twenty-four, a farmer living at Owen, Ind., was accidentally shot and killed by Miss Ida Reinhardt, to.whom he was engaged to be married on Christmas day at the girl's home, Louisville, Ky., on Sunday. The tragedy occurred after Spencer finished eating breakfast at the Rein* hardt home. Mi9s Reinhart, her mother and Spencer were talking about revolers.
