Yesterday in the Mayor's court, a
half pint of cheap liquor was the
downfall of four negroes. On Sunday
a white man went to Lucius Johnson

have any, but might be able to get

and he said he did not have any, but
knew where some was; Harry went
to Mack Green, and Mack went to ?
Grant, and Grant is said to have
produced the goods. Under the law,
it is a crime to transport and deliver
illicit liquor, and accordingly the
Mayor found each one guilty and
-placed fine of ?25 or thirty days on
each one of the defendants.

Many rheumatic attacks are due to
uric acid in the blood. But the duty
of the kidneys 19 to remove all uric
acid from the blood. Its presence
there shows the kidneys are inactive.
Don't daily with "uricacid solvents."
You might go on till doomsday with
them, but until you cure the kidneys
you will never get well. Doan's Kidney
Pill9 not only remove uric acid,
but cure the kidneys ard then all danger
from uric acid is ended. Here is
Lexington testimony to prove it.
Mrs. E. L. Corley, living two mile9
northeast of Lexington, S. C., says:
"I had been a sufferer for several
years from rheumatism and I also had
symptoms of kidney trouble. My
head ached severely and I endured a
great deal of misery from pains
through the small part of my back.
I finally decided to try Doan's Kidney
Pills and procured a box at the Kaufmann
Drug Co. I used them in accordance
with the directions, and can
truthfully say that they helped me a
great deal. I do not hesitate to recommend
vour remedv to other suffer

For sale by all dealers. Price 50
cents. Foster-Milburn Co., Buffalo,

Julius Ballentine.
To the Editor of The Dispatch:
Seeing through the columns of your
paper the announcement of the death
of Julius B. Ballentine of Washington,
D. C., whose home was originally
Lexington, S. C., was heartbreaking
news to his many friends.
He made friends and was a friend
that one was always proud to meet.
With a loving disposition he seemed
never to meet a stranger. He was always
willing and ready to lend a helping
hand to the needy. He harmed
no one that didn't harm him and was
a man to his word.
The writer was in Washington with
him day and night until June 19th,
' and we were the closest friends. We
did not intend to separate forever unless
death should be the cause.
Words cannot express my sympathy
for the bereaved family. May God
bless them.
Over the sparkling waters beyond,
In that great celestial home;
Far greater place than Washington,
A true friend has gone to roam.
A Friend.

Our deceased brother united with
the Methodist church at Souls Chapel
in Laurens county, in his early youth,
and made a profession of saving faith
in Christ at Pond Branch church about
fifteen years before his death. He
was a faithful and devoted husband,
a kind and affectionate father, and a
true Christian.
Those who knew him best testify to
hi3 noble Christian character. Our
brother was very much afflicted in
his latter years, both in body and
mind; but despite these severe afflictions
the true man and noble Christian
character shown out brightly in
his daily life.

To weak and ailiaqr women, there is at leart one

Dr. Shoop's Night Cure is the Local.
Dr. Shoop's Restorative, the Constitutional. '
The former?Dr. Shoop's Night Cure?is a topical

The Restorative reaches throughout the' C

The "Night Core", as its name implies, does its
