Columbia's gates are open wide, and ere the week comes to a close, all of South Carolina will have passed through. The fair this year has many attractions?more than ever before. There is a flying machine at the fair which will make two ascensions daily. The Johnny Jones shows are there? the best carnival company on the r:>ad. The Clemson cadets are at the fair full force, and a great time they are having. To-morrow there will be a meeting of all the postmasters in in the State, and nearly all of them will be present. Other associations and societies meet, and an interesting and joyful time is in store for all. The illumination of the streets and business houses are the best yet, and Mr. James L. Tapp is receiving all manner of praise for the excellent arrangements he has made. ~, The 40th annual fair is the best in the history of the society and Columbia is doing herself proud.
