soaked their feet in hot water and got
well. Now they have grip, take qui-'

they had sore throat, wrapped a piece
of fat pork in an old sock, tied it
around the neck at night and went to
work the next morning. Now they
have tonsilitis, a surgical operation
and two weeks in the house. Then
they had stomach ache and took castor
oil and recovered. Now they have
appendicitis, a week in the hospital
and six feet due east and west and
six feet perpendicular. They worked
then; they labor now. In those days
they wore underclothes; now they
wear lingerie. Then they went to a
restaurant; now they go to a cafe.
Then they broke a leg; now they fracture
a limb. People went crazy then;
they have a brain storm now. Politicians
then paid good hard cash for
support; now they send government
garden seeds. Yes, times have changed,
and we all change with times.

How to Avoid Appendicitis.
Most victims of appendicitis are those
who are habitually constipated. Orino
Laxative Fruit Syrup cures chronic
constipation by stimulating the liver

Nature and a woman's work combined
have produced the grandest
remedy for woman's ills that the
world has ever known.
In the good old-fashioned days of

the roots and herbs of the field to
cure disease and mitigate suffering.
The Indians on our Western
Plains to-day can produce roots and
herbs for every ailment, and cure
diseases that baffle the most skilled
physicians who have spent years in
the study of drugs.
From the roots and herbs of the
field Lydia K. Pinkham more than
thirty years ago gave to the women
of the world a remedy for their peculiar
ills, more potent and efficacious
than any combination of drugs.
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
rWrrnnvmd is now reooflmized as the
sfcan<Jard remedy for woman's ills.
Mrs. Bertha Muff, of 515 N.C. St.,
Louisiana, Mo., writes:
4 Complete restoration to health
means so much to me that for the sake
of other suffering women I am willing
to make my troubles public.
"For twelve years I had been suffering
with the worst forms of female ills.
During that time I had eleven different
physicians without help. No tongue
can tell what I suffered, and at times I
could hardly walk. About two years
ago I wrote Mrs. Pinkham for advice.
I followed it, and can truly say that
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
and Mrs. Pinkham's advice restored
health and strength. It is
worth mountains of gold to suffering
women."
What Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
Compound did for Mrs. Muff,
it will do for other suffering women.
Obituary.
Arthur Clarence Ballentine was
born May 1, 18S5, and died September
6, 1908. *He was baptized in infancy
and in his early manhood united with
Salem M. E. Church, South, in Lexington
county.
While on a visit to hi9 sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wise,
at Gilbert, he wa9 taken 9ick with
typhoid fever from which he never recovered.
His devoted father, brother
and sister were with him, more or
less, during his sickness.

by his loved ones was cheerfully performed
by them, while kind, skillful

all to no avail He seemed to be
marked for death from the beginning.
He told his sistsr that whether he
lived or died he had made peace with
his God. What a comfort to loved
ones is this assurance!
Arthur being .the baby boy was
very tenderly loved, and it was like
tearing out heart strings to give him
up. May the blessed Lord comfort
and support these dear ones in their
greit sorrow, and may they all meet
him in that bright world above.

A Reasonable Request.
The young man and girl were standing
outside the front door having a
final chat after his evening call. He
was leaning against the door post, ,
talking in low tones. Presently the
young lady looked around to discover
her father in the doorway, clad in a
dressing gown.
"Why, father, what in the world is
the matter?" she inquired.
"John," said the father, addressing
himself to the young man, "you know
I have never complained about your
staying late and I'm not going to
complain of that now; but. for goodness'
sake stop leaning against the
bell push and let the rest of the family
get some sleep."?Chicago Journal.
It's a pity when sick ones drug the
stomach or stimulate the Heart and
Kidneys. That is all wrong! A weak
Stomach, means weak Stomach nerves,
always. And this is also true of the
Heart and Kidneys. The weak nerves
are instead crying out for help. This
explains why Dr. Shoop's Restorative
is promptly helping Stomach. Heart and
Kidney ailments. The Restorative
reaches out for the actual cause of these
ailments?the failing "inside nerves".
