The election passed off very quietly
although the contests were close ana
the friends of the respective candidates
showed unusual activity. The
second races promise even greater efforts
and a tremendous vote is expected.
No one at this stage can predict
the fii al results but whatever they
may be, it is certain that complete
acquiescence will be given. That is
the Democratic spirit which should
prevail in all contests submitted to
the people.
To The People of Lexington
Cmuitv
I desire to thank the people for
their kindly consideration of my candidacy
for Clerk of Court in the recent
primary and especially my
friends who stood so loyally by me in
the face of the fierce assaults made
upon me. I am sure it will be gratifying
to them, to the people, as it is
to me, to know that with all said
about me derogative of my character
I carried every box at which I have
lived and the two boxes at which I
was born and raised by handsome
majorities.
At Grout's Store, where I was born
and where I married, my vote was 52
to 30 for both of my opponents. At
Summit, where I was raised, my vote
was35 to 23 for both of my opponents,
while at Lexington where I have lived
for only eight years and where ray opoonent
for the second race has lived
all his life, where his family and relatives
live, I beat him.
I take this as an indisputable testiT?An?ol

as a citizen and as an evidence of the
belief of those who know ns best in
my competency and fitness for the
place.
My campaign just ended was made
upon my merit as a man and as an
official. I attacked no man's character,
indulged in no bitter, mean personalities,
slung no mud and in the
campaign to follow, I promise you
the same clean, manly, straightforward
fight that I have always made
in every race I have run. I promise,
if elected, that same faithful and impartial
service which I have always
given as an official.
I feel 9ure my friends will continue
their loyal efforts in my behalf, and
- to them and to all, I express in advance
my deepest appreciation.
Very respectfully,
Frank W. Shealy.
