Letter From Arkansas.
To the Editor of The Dispatch:
Through the kindness of some friend
The Dispatch has been coming to my
address for the past few weeks. I
was very happy surprised at its first
arrival. Was glad because it came
from the grand old state of South
Carolina and the good old county of
Lexington. My father and mother
were both born and raised in Lexington
county. It was there I first saw
the light and a few short years of my
early life was spent among her people.
A number of years ago my father
moved West, but was a regular
reader of The Dispatch until his
death. I do not know whether its
able editor now was its manager then
or jftot.
Except in the flooded districts,
crops in Logan county and western
arkansas are good, although we are
having too much rain now for cotton.
Arkansas is an all-round fine country.
Its soil and seasons are suitable
for all kinds of farming. The northwestern
section is a fine fruit country,
for which it is fast .becoming famous.
Land can be bought at reasonable
prices and on easy terms. Is
one of the leading states along the
line of education. Her citizens are a
lawabiding, wide-a-wake and progressive
people. A new state house
is now pnder course of construction
and when completed will be an honor
to the state. Arkansas is reliable
democratic and will give the great
Commoner and John W. Kern a safe
hit this fall.
I hope the future may have many
years of prosperity in store for The
Dispatch and its able editor and may I
its subscription list continue to grow
I oa fVio v?nrq rnmft and 2*0.

Obituary.
Robert Henry Leaphart departed
l fViia nfo Anomfit, fith. lAOfl. ae-ed 84
years and 14 days. He leaves an
aged wife, three sons, five daughters,
twenty-seven grandchildren, fifteen
great-grand-children and one sister,
besides a large circle of other relatives
and friends to mourn his departure.
He was a life long member of the
Lutheran church, having connected
in early youth with St. Paul's (Hollow
Creek) congregation, Lexington
county, S. C.
Amid a large congregation gathered
to pay the last tribute, the funeral
services were rendered at the home
by his pastor, and his body laid away
in the family cemetery to await the
morning of the resurrection. "Hope
we have as an anchor of the soul."

Keep the stomach in good order right

during this month. Take Kodol whenever
you feel that you need it. That is
the only time you need to take Kodol.

was badly shot.
