Ser Fourteenth Husband
Charges Cruelty.
Dodge, Neb., July 22.?Anthony
^Townsend, the fourteenth husband of
Mrs. Phebe Townsend, today entered
suit for divorce. Townsend, who is
an aged and wealthy farmer, charges
cruelty against his wife, who is 52
years old and who was wife, mother
and widow at 13 years. Of Mrs.
Townsend's fourteen husbands nine
are still living. None of them ever
sued her for divorce until Townsend
appealed to the law. She ha9 been a
plaintiff in nine suits for freedom and
won them all.

entertain the old vets in royal style
and it is hoped that Lexington county

Now Cars Fnrobasid
By Stroot Railway.
The Columbia Street Railway company
has purchased two new double
track semi-convertible cars, to De
placed in service in September. The
cars are of the latest type, costing
about $10,500, and will be placed in
service as soon as received.
These are of the same type as three
now in use by the company on the
Shandon line and can be opened during
summer and converted into closed
cars in cold weather. They are capable
of transporting at least double the
number of passengers on an ordinary
car when closed and nearly three
times the number when open.?-The

Southern "Wins Big* Suit.
Spartanburg, July 23.?In the court
of common pleas today the jury in
the case of J. A. Henderson vs the
Southern railway, an action brought
to recover damages in the sum of one
hundred thousand dollars, returned a
verdict for the defendant. Mr. Henderson
alleged' that his horse took
fright because of the blowing of the
train whistle, and threw him, causing
him serious injury.

Uewberry College Beunion.
Mr. R. Wilbur Frick, secretary of
the Little Mountain reunion of Newberry
college, authorizes The Dispatch
to announce that the reunion
will be held August 7th.
It is hardly necessary to do more
than to give the date. Little Mountain
reunion is almost as widely
known as Columbia's State fair. Special
trains will be operated from Laurens
and from Columbia to Little
Mountain.

In accordance with the act of the
General Assembly of South Carolina,
approved February 24, 1908, requiring
the Supervisors of Registration to reenroll
all the qualified electors in the
State during the year 1908, the Supervisors
of Registration of Lexington
county will keep the books of registration
open at the county seat every day
(Sundays excepted) between the hours
of nine a. m. and six p. m., during the
months of July and August 1908, and in
addition thereto will attend during the
month of September 1908 at . least one
day in each township in Lexington
county of which at least ten days notice
will be given by advertisement in a
newspaper published in the county.
