A Plea For Prohibition.
Men at midnight wake and wonder
Will this darkness pa9S away,
Has the gloom no upward lifting,
Will there be a better day?
And their thoughts are oft recurring
To the days long past and gone
Which to'them were bright, alluring,
While in them we passed along.
But the past cannot be reached now
We must work for present need,
We must better each new moment
By a kinder word and deed.
Make the past our best instructor,
Use the present for our aid,
Utilize them both in future
To correct mistakes we've made.
When we wake lie not to slumber.
There is work for us to do,
We must rise to use the "present,"
This command to me and you,
This 19 all that has been promised
A >tia oil fViat. n?o nan nao

'To uplift our fallen brother
To a plane of higher views.
Let us then arise and help him,
While we have this "present" day,
Work the work of Him that saved us
And the dark will pass away.
Hasten then, arise, go forward,
Swift to see the work to do.
For a brother needs reclaiming
By the work of me and you.
For intemperance must be dealt with
Against this evil we must stand.
Pray and vote for prohibition
And drive the whiskey from our land,
For many a brother is overtaken
While many may resist its spell,
Many have not as yet awakened,
Many are drifting on toward hell.
Help to stop this downward tending,
Help a fallen brother rise,
Help to aid those who are sending
Up their prayers and bitter cries.
Help us now, the fight grows warm,
Help us win our native land,
Help us gain a brilliant victory,
Help defeat the devil's band.

ut I can now surely kill the pains and pangs of

In Germany?with a Chemist in the City of
