Mr. John Dooley, one of our industrious
farmers called in to see us last

The season is growing late and I
am offering refrigerators at greatly
reduced prices rather than carry them

on Friday, was Mr. John Edward
Hartley, son of Mr. L. C. Hartley
of Batesburg and a nephew of Mr.
A. L. Hartley of this place.

Mr. J. J. Rauch returned to his
home at Rock Hill today after a visit

handing out certificates Monday.
It is necessary for everybody to get
a new registration certificate this
year.
There was a large crowd in town
Monday. The county commissioners
were in session, transacting regular
routine business, and the various candidates
were on hand "seeking the
votes of the dear people."

"no good". Every man must get,
not a renewal but a new registration
certificate this year, otherwise he
cannot vote. The board is now in

Mr. F. Hamp Hendrix was the hapSiest

Misses Josie Carroll, of Yorkville,
Elizabeth Hawkins, of Prosperity and
Sadie.DesPortes, of Ridgeway, three
charming young ladies, are expected
on Friday to be guests at Miss Lucille
Butler's house party.
Miss May Bradford returned on yesterday
from Hot Springs, Arkansas,
where she has been spending several
weeks. Her many friends will be
glad to know that she is almost entirely
relieved of rheumatism.
The Misses Riley, two exceedingly
handsome and charming young ladies
of Columbia, spent Saturday and Sunday
with their uncle, Mr. R. L. Keisler,
at Gilbert.
Col. D. J. Griffith, of whom all Lexington
county loves and honors, went
down to his plantations near Gilbert,
last Saturday. He says that his crops
are good, and the crops on che State
farms under his supervision, were
never better. This is saying much,
for the Colonel always has fine crops.

The Lexington Brass Band has been
serenading on onr streets this week.
The "boys" are indeed making rapid
progress, and will soon be among the
best. Messrs Arthur and Major Harman
are the leaders and instructors.
Mrs. John E. Black of this place
who underwent a successful operation
at the Columbia hospital a few weeks
ago is home again to the delight ol
her many friends and still improving
under the skillful treatment of Dr,
L. A. Griffith.
