Logan, tne faithful old horse of Mr. f -John McCartha of Black Creek, j died on the 14th, at the age of thirty years, nine months and ninteen days. . Bank of Swansea. On the flsst page will be found an advertisement of the Bank of Swansea which has been in business for less than a year. Under their management the bank is destined to grow. Mr. Shealy "Will Teach. Mr. Cyrus L. Shealy, who gradu ated from the University of South Carolina at the last session, has been J elected principal of the Grammar school in the city schools of Camden, one of the very best school systems in the state. Mr. Shealy was chosen over several applicants, which makes the position ail the more enviable. Mr. Shealy made a most creditable record while at the University and was one of the commencement orators from the senior class, one of the highest honors attainable at the University. He will leave for his new field at the opening of the next session, the latter part of September. Mr. Shealy is a brother of Mr. , Prank W. Shealy, Lexington's popular treasurer, and has hundreds of friends who will join The Dispatch in wishing for him a long and successful career. To the Editor of The Dispatch: Crops in this section are looking well, but needing rain. Mrs. Jeff Rawl and children, of Columbia, are visiting relatives and friends in this section. Mr. and Mrs. John Etlieredge, of Saluda county, spent Sunday with Mrs. Etheredge's mother, Mrs. Ann Rawl. Mr. T. H. Rawl, the jolly, good natured candidate for supervisor, is on the go these days. Mr. W. A. Leaphart killed the largest snake ever seen in these parts one day last week. Mrs. W. A. The senatorial party opened fire at Sumter last Wednesday and the candidates for state offices opened at St. Matthews, the county seat of Calhoun. A surprise was sprung at the last moment by the entrance of Maj. W. W. Lumpkin of Columbia, and Mr. John P. Grace of Charleston, for the United states senate. Notice of Registration.
