Milwaukee, Wis., June 12.?Predict- j ing great gains in the South, with pos- j sible victory in all Southern prohibi| tion States, State Chairman Alonao Wilson, of Illinois, told the Wisconsin State prohibition convention here today that the foundation of his expectation was the alleged opposition of William J. Bryan to prohibition. "In 1890," said Mr. Wilson, "Mr. Bryan stumped Nebraska against a prohibition amendment to the Nebraska constitution. I have also in my possession a copy of a letter from Mr. Bryan to Southern men who de sired a plank for prohibition in the j Democratic national platform. In this letter Mr. Bryan declares if his wishes are followed there will be no snch plank in the platform. As Mr. Bryan is in control of the Democratic party, his platform desires will undoubtedly control in the Democratic convention and therefore no prohibition can be expected from that convention." Mr. Wilson said this was the explanation of the Southern delegates who had been looking into the subject. He said he was to leave for the South tonight to confer with leading prohibition Democrats about their support for the prohibition party if no prohibition plank is inserted in the Denver platform. r Stomach Troubles. Over in this State seme of us have the-same feeling of satisfaction now that the primary for Governor of Georgia i9 over that the pious old preacher felt on a certain occasion. At a hotel he was put in a room with a snorer who worked up in the thirtythird degree. He went from the gentlest suspicion of a snore on up to a regular nose storm. Then he would drop back and after resting awhile would do it over again. The old preacher turned and twisted and groaned and cleared his throat, but the snoring went on. After a long time the artist put some extra touches on the grand ''finale" and gave several extra snorts as an encore. He then settled down into profound silence. The old preacher piously said, "Thank God, he's dead at last."? Carolina Spartan. Shoots Brother in Defense of Ber Husband. Eugene Green, a resident of Greenville, was shot Wednesday afternoon by his married sister, Mrs. Alice Campbell. Green was in the street engaged in a difficulty with Mrs. Campbell'8 husband, just in front of the Campbell cottage, when Mrs. Campbell rushed out of her house and fired four shots in quick succession. The first shot struck Green in the arm, the second in the left eye, the third in the stomach and the fourth on the chin. It is said that before Mrs. Campbell fired, Green had cut Campbell pretty badly about the face. The Best Pills Ever Sold. Columbia, June 11.?On account of a nervous break down, ex-Governor D. C. Heyward has withdrawn from the race for United Statqs senator. He left here today for Philadelphia, where he will take treatment in a sanitarium. ? ? Nature has provided the stomach with certain natural fluids known as the digestive juices, and it is through these juices that the food we eat is acted upon in such a way as to produce the rich, red blood that flows through the veins of our body and thereby makes us strong, healthy and robust, and it is the weakening of these digestive juices that destroys health. It i9 our own fault if we destroy our own health, and vet it is so easy for anyone to put the stomach out of order. PAIN Pain In the head?rain anywhere, has Its cause* Pain is congestion, pain is blood pressure?nothing else usually. At least, so says Dr. Shoop, and to prove it he has created a little pink tablet. That tablet?called Dr. Shoop's Headache Tabletcoaxes blood pressure away from pain centers. Its effect is charming, pleasingly delightful. Gently, though safely, it surely equalizes the blood circi> lation. If you have a headache, it's blood pressure. If it's painful periods with women, same cause. If you are sleepless, restless, nervous, it's blood congestion?blood pressure. That surely is a certainty, for Dr. Shoop's Headache Tablets stop it in 20 minutes, and the tablets simply distribute the unnatural blood pressure. Bruise your finger, and doesn't it get red, and swell, and pain you? Of course it does. It's confrestion, blood pressure. You'll find it where pain always. It's simply Common Sense.
