Women as Weii as Men Are Made
Miserable by Kidney and
Bladder Tronble.
Kidney trouble preys upon the mind,
discourages and lessens ambition; beauty,
t vigor and cheerfulness
soon disappear
when the kidneys are
out of order or disXidney
trouble has
become so prevalent
that it is not uncommon
for a child to be
born afflicted with
weak kidneys. If the
child urinates too often, if the urine scalds
the flesh, or if, when the child reaches an
age when it should be able to control the
passage, it is yet afflicted with bed-wetting,
depend upon it, the cause of tliediffl1
culty is kidney trouble, and the firststep
should be towards the treatment of
im-nortflrit organs. This unpleasant
"trouble is due to a diseased condition of
the kidneys and bladder and not to a
habit as most people suppose.
Women as well as men are made miserable
with kidney and bladder trouble,
and both need the same great remedy.
The mild and the immediate effect of

Girl's Trunks Suraed.
A special from Rock Hill says:
Wednesday night about 12:45
o?clock fire broke out in a Southern
railway baggage car in which were
about 100 trunks and a number of
valises belonging to departing Winthrop
college girls.
While the car was being loaded a
lamp exploded and in a moment or
two the inside of the car was in
flames. The fire department responded
to an alarm and the fire was finally
got under control, but not until
much damage had been done, both to
the baggage and the car.
The contents of the trunks and va

practically ruined. The damages will
aggregate about $12,000. The roof of
the car was almost entirely consumed
and the los9 on the car will probably
reach $2,000. The railway company
is liable for damages to the
amount of $100 on each trunk.
. Small Verdicts in Eichland.
During the term of the court of
common pleas for Richland county,
which ended a few days ago, 14 cases
were disposed of, all save two being
suits against corporations. The total
amount sued for in the 14 cases was
$77,234. Verdicts for the defendants
were rendered in five of the cases.
The total amount of damages awarded
by the juries in the nine cases
which were decided in favor of the
plaintiffs was $8,148. The lawyers,
of course, get their share out of this.
In one case, that of Koon vs. the Seaboard
Air Line railway, the jury
awarded damages in the sum of $4,444,
leaving in the remaining eight

Recipes for Hydrophobia.
1. Another alleged cure for hydrophobia
is reported from Russia. It
i9 simply the inhalation of oxygen
gas. A little girl who had been seized
with convulsions was made to
inhale three cubic feet of the gas,
when the symptoms disappeared.
They returned the next day, and the
treatment was repeated with such
success that they had not returned at
last accounts.
2. The British Medical Journal says
that garlic has always had a great
reputation among anti-hydrophobia
remedies, and is found as a principal
integral portion in a large number of
formulae long kept secret. A young
man bitten by a mad dog was shut up
in a loft. In his delirium he seized
upon some bundles of dried garlic,
ate greeeily of it, fell into a deep
sleep, and awoke calm and cured.- r
270 Weie Drowned.
Victoria, B. C., June 4.?Twelve

lives when a typhoon struck the Pearl

according to news brought here by

Twenty of the men who went down
were white men. The typhoon, which
whipped the waves mountain high,
swamped the vessels, as if they were

Sees Sill a Horse.
Mr. Stewart Gregg:, of the Claussen
Bection of Florence county, lost a
very valuable horse recently by the
animal being stung to death by bees.
This is something very unusual, but
it happened, nevertheless. The horse
was being led past some hives, when
one of the bees stung him. The horse
began switching his tail and this
brought the whole swarm out on him,
causing his death a short time afterward.
Nature has provided the stomach
with certain natural fluids known as
the digestive juices, and it is through
these juices that the food we eat is acted
upon in such a way as to produce
the rich, red blood that flows through
the veins of our body and thereby
makes us strong, healthy and robust,
and it is the weakening of these digestive
juices that destroys health. It is
our own fault if we destroy our own
health, and yet it is so easy for anyone
to put the stomach out of order. When
yon need to take something take it
promptly, but take something you
know is reliable?something like Kodol
For Dyspepsia and Indigestion. Kodol
is pleasant to take, it is reliable and is
guaranteed to give relief. It is sold by

Weak Women
To weak and ailing women, there is at least one
way to help. But with that way. two treatments,
must be combined. One is local, one is constitutional.
but both are important, both essential.
Dr. Shoop's Night Cure is the Local.
Dr. Shoop's Restorative, the Constitutional.
The former?Dr. Shoop's Night Cure?is a topical
mucous membrane suppository remedy, while Dr.
Shoop's Restorative is wholly an internal treatment.
The Restorative reaches throughout the
entire system, seeking the repair of all nerve,
all tissue, and all blood ailments.
The "Night Cure", as its name implies, does its
work while vou sleep. It soothes sore and in flam
ed mucous surfaces, heals local weaknesses and
discharges, while the Restorative, eases nervous
excitement, gives renewed, vigor and ambition,
builds up wasted tissues, bringing about renewed
strength, vigor, and energy. Take Dr. Shoop's
Restorative?Tablets or Liquid?as a general tonic
to the system. For positive local help, use as well
