Wednesday, June 3,1908. Selua News Notes. To the Editor of The Dispatch: Farmers are pushing their work for all they are worth. Nice rains last week and favorable weather conditions since have put new life into all growing crops. Good stands of both corn and cotton are generally reported. The peach crop is abundant and ripening unusually early. Gardens have been held back by the recent dry weather, but are doing better now. Small grain about ready for harTr*iaf. Oats vprv crnnri. hnt wheat 3omewhat inferior. The Farmers' Union people are not thinking about giving up the fight for fifteen cents a pound for cotton, and from present indication&they will get that price or quit growing the staple. Some have cut off from 10 to 25 per cent, of the acreage and some have plowed up acres upon acres of cotton and planted the land in corn and peas, knowing that as long as the price of corn is around one dollar per bushel, and peas above two dollars per bushel, the prospect for profitable farming is better with the two latter mentioned crops, than in growing cotton at present prices. The prospect now is for the cotton crop of this year not to exceed ten million bales and if that does not cause the price to go up to a profitable figure, the Union will bring the crop of next year considerably under that for the present year. If theworld doesn't need the cotton badly enough to pay a remunerative price for it, why we will not continue to raise it, as there are so many other lines of farm products that will pay a profit. H. Food at a Church Festival the Cause of Typhoid Epidemic At Rockwell City an epidemic of typhoid fever, which had its origin in the food cooked for a Methodist church social, has already resulted in five deaths. Thirty more members of the church, including the pastor, are now seriously ill, with a chance that several more will die. Physicians who have investigated the case declare that the germs existed either in the fried chicken or the ice cream. No Need of Suffering From Rheumatism. It is a mistake to allow rheumatism to become chronic, as the pain can always be relieved, and in most cases a cure effected by applying Chamberlain's Pain Balm. The relief from pain which it affords is alone worth many times its cost. It makes sleep and rest possible. Even in cases of long standing this liniment should be used on account of the relief which it affords. 25 and 50 cent sizes for sale by Kaufmann Drug Co. Albert Kendall, a barber of New field, N. In the good old-fashioned days of our grandmothers they relied upon the roots and herbs of the field to cure disease and mitigate suffering. The Indians on our Western Plains to-day can produce roots and herbs for every ailment, and cure diseases that baffle the most skilled physicians who have spent years in the study of drugs. From the roots and herbs of the field Lydia E. Pinkham more than thirty years ago gave to the women of the world a remedy for their peculiar ills, more notent and effica cious than any combination of drugs. Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound is now recognized as the standard remedy for woman's ills. Mrs. Bertha Muff, of 515 X.C. St., Louisiana, Mo., writes: " Complete restoration to health means so much to me that for the sake of other suffering women I am willing to make my troubles public. "For twelve years I had been suffering with the worst forms of female ills. During that time I had eleven different physicians without help. No tongue can tell what I suffered, and at times I could hardly walk. About two years ago I wrote Mrs. Pinkham for advice. I followed itr, and can truly say that Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and Mrs. Pinkham's advice restored health and strength. It is worth mountains of gold to suffering women." What Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound did for Mrs. Muff, it will do for other suffering women. A Georgia Poetess for Hoke. Mrs. C. H. Morris, an ardent supporter of Hoke Smith in hi9 campaign against "Little Joe" Brown in the race for governor of Georgia, gets off the following: When doodles sleep in iron beds, And cat-fish wear silk hats, When jay-birds play with balls and sleds And frogs are democrats; When oak trees bear the Elberta peach, | And potatoes grow on stalks; t When r?r? mnre sand is nn the heach. And crows use knives and forks; When skippers learn to hate the cheese, And rt cks are soft as dough; When cypress ponds have no more knees, And June-bugs learn to hoe. When we learn what worthless things are for, And are safe in the lion's den. Then Joe Brown will be governor, And not until then. Bucklen's Arnica Salve Wins. Tom Moore, of Rural Route 1, Cochrau, Ga., writes; *T had a bad sore come on the imtep of my foot and could find nothing that would lte.il it until I applied Bucklen's Arnica Salve. Less than halt of a to cent box won the day for me by affecting a perfect cure." Sold under guarantee at Derrick's Drug Store and Kanfmann Drug Co. Pythian Officers.
