"Warning is Issued to All Odd
Fellows.
The Columbia State of the 24th published
the following:
"Mr. Charles L. Kelly, the grand
master of the South Carolina Independent
Order of Odd Fellows, has
sent out to all subordinate lodges a
letter of warning stating that there is
now in circulation certain publications,
purporting to be the secret 01
unwritten work of the organization.
The letter will be of interest, not only
to the members of that order, but tc
all other secret fraternities. It is as
follows:
"'Brothers: You are hereby directed
to read in open lodge sections
1952 and 2246 of Busbee's digest of
1903 relative to the 'spurious publications
purporting to be the secret or
unwritten work of the Independent
Order of Odd Fellows.' You are further
directed to ascertain and to prosecute
any member of your lodge who
may have these spurious publications
in his possession. This law must be
obeyed to the letter, and I trust that
no drastic measures will have to be
j used to enforce it in its entirety. AdI
vise me fully, at your earliest conven!
ience, if your lodge and its members
i are living within this law." '
