FEES INVESTIGATIONS
Of Contagious and Infectious Diseases
of Animals. fl
The majority of stock owners do
not know that this State provides for
the investigation of contagious and
infectious diseases and consequently
there is an unnecessary loss of many
animals each year. Some of these
animal diseases are also communicable
and fatal to man, and, therefore ^
the appearance of any disease of sus- &

reported to the State veterinarian. All y
letters asking for information regard- 3'
ing non-contagions diseases of ani- s
mals will be promptly answered, but
owners are requested to fully describe
the symptoms of the disease. Observe
the following rules in request- ^
ing investigations:
1. All notices of contagious or in- *e
fectious diseases should be sent to as
"Veteerinarian, Ciemson College, S. cu

2. When two or more reputable ar
citizens of any county in. this State 112
sjiall notify said veterinarian that any co
animals in their county are affected 013
with a contagious disease, the tan- Pr
dency of which is to cause the death
of such animals, he will investigate
the same, or cause an investigation
thereof to be made. Such notices
should also state the number of animals
sick, the number exposed to the ^
infection and the number dead, or it
should contain such other informa- C1
tion ab may indicate that the disease *a

and one that< can be legally investi- ^
gated under the law.
3. WhenBaid notice shows that the
disease is contagious or infectious an ^
investigation will be made. Investi- ar
gations will be made in the order no- ^
tices are received when this is practi- fa
cable; otherwise they will be made in ^

order of importance or according to ^
location. \
* S6
i i. Persona requesting inspections ^
should hold the animals in readiness,
awaiting the arrival of the veterinarian
or assistant veterinarian, and be
present to give the required informa1
tion and assistance. tii
5. The veterinarian, when requested,
will furnish blanks on which to fch
1 make reports. All letters of inquiry or
asking for information regarding ani- ^
. mal diseases will be answered as soon ^
1 after their receipt as may be found tu
practicable. 1 /
? TT1
6. In accordance with Section 5, gt
of the Act of February 9, 1901, Clemaon
College will pay the necessary expenses
of the veterinarian, or assist5
ant veterinarian, in making inspec- ^
. tions where animals are affected with
i contagious diseases. The owner is ga
expected to provide transportation to j
and from the railway station and furn- gc
ish all necessary labor and feed while gj
the animals are being tested or are in 0]
I quarantine. /

quested and the sick animals die or 8t
recover before the arrival of the in
specfcor, the person requesting the inspection
must notify the veterinarian.

. How to Avoid Appendicitis. n
Most victims of appendicitis are those
who are habitually constipated. Orino
Laxative Fruit Syrup cures chronic con}
stipation by stimulating the liver and A
bowels and .restores the natural action ^
tof the bowels. Orino Laxative Fruit
. ' Syrup does not nauseate or gripe and is
mild and pleasant to take. Refuse substitutes.

Cotton Sold in Anderson.
Mr. T. T. Wakefield, manager of
e Farmers' Union Cotton Ware>use
of Anderson, has received a
bter from a farmer in South Georgia
king as to the truth of a report cirilated
in that section to the effect
i
at the farmers of South Carolina, \
id of Anderson county in particular,
A become discouraged with holding
tton and were throwing their cotton .
l the market at the present low ,
ice. Mr. Wakefield replied at once
at there was no truth in the report.
"We have now 5,000 bales in the
Lion Warehouse,' said Mr. Wake>ld,
"and there are about 2,000 bales !
the Standard Warehouse. In ad- j
tion to this there is a lot of cotton '
ored in the mill warehouses in the \
by, some of the mills allowing their j
rmer friends to use their warehouses. 1
lere are altogether a little more i
an 10,000 bales of cotton stored in j
e warehouses in this city.
"And many farmers have cotton on ]
eir farms. You can see cotton piled
ound many gin houses in the coun- |
y and a.round many homes on the ?
rms. The farmers of Anderson
I
unty have on hand today about 23,- ,
0 bales of cotton, or about one-tnira
the last crop. And there does not '
em to be the slightest disposition
sell until the price goes up."

self, actually diseased* It Is almost always a
hidden tiny little nerve that really is all at fault.
This obscure nerve?the Cardiac, or Heart Nerve
?simply needs, and must have, more power, more
stability, more controlling, more governing
strength. Without that the Heart must continue
to fail, and the stomach and kidneys also have
these same controlling nerves.
Thi3 clearly explains why as a medicine. Dr.

for weak and ailing Hearts. Dr. Shoop first sought
