From Around Chapin.
To the Editor of The Dispatch:
The farmers have been hustling for
the past few days, but the land is too
wet to plough in many places,
j The farmers should bear in mind
i the declining price in cotton and not
| plant so much this year. Heed the
advice of President Smith.
The small grain is looking fine now,
especially oats. But little wheat was
! sown.

We understand that there was a
party to see Supervisor Koon. a few
days ago in reference to furnishing
the material for the steel bridge over
the Saluda. Now we are not fighting
i the free bridge, but we are of the
opinion that the matter should have
been submitted to the voters on the
proposition of erecting two bridges.
One bridge will only accommodate a
portion of the people, while two would
make it convenient to all on this side
of the river.
The joint conference of the Lutheran
church is in session here and
Chapin is alive with prominent church

'" Spring is Coming.
Spring is coming, we may know it by
the willow's golden gleam,
By the old familiar longing to sit
down in peace to dream;
Spring is coming, we may know it by
the shriekir.g of the jay
And the south winds that are blowing
out of gardens far away.
Spring is coming, we may know it by
the sunsets, warm and red,
i
By the soft and gentle cooiug of the
doves upon the shed;
Spring is coming, we may know it by
the lilac's swelling bud
And the yelling of the teamster, who
is driving through the mud.
Spring is coming, spring is coming,
let us bravely cling to hope,
There will soon be dandelions gleaming
on the distant slope;
Spring is coming, we may know it by
the loud appeals they make
Who live down along the rivers when
the ice begins to break.

Rheumatic Pains Relieved.
Mr. Thos. Stenton, postmaster of
Pontypooi, Ont., writes: For the past
eight years I suffered from rheumatic
pains, and during that time I used many
different liniments and remedies for
the cure of rheumatism. Last summer
I procured a bottle of Chamberlain's
Pain Balm and got more relief from it
than anything I have ever used, and
cheerfully recommend this liniment to
all sufferers from rheumatic pains."
